As part of its efforts to promote research and innovation in physics for African countries’ development; the ASCIN network in collaboration with Physics Department at the University of Lomé and with its laboratories, organize the first edition of Regional Colloquium of Physics and Applications (CRéPAs). The topic of this first edition is: “Numerical analysis and experimental research in material sciences”.
Particular focus were made on:
- renewable energies (photovoltaic)
- LEDs and applications
- biomaterial and mechanics
- research and development
CRéPAs’s goal is to address social, economic and environmental challenges that endlessly obstruct African countries development through scientific research and innovations. This annual colloquium will have yearly themes regarding recent challenges that will be put forward. CRéPAs has an outstanding vision to contribute to development of "science of Africa", i.e a practical science advocated to the needs of the continent. The 2018 edition will be held from 23rd to 28th July 2018 at the University of Lomé (UL). The topic of this first edition is: "Numerical calculations and experimental research on materials in physics".
CRéPAs is a scientific event that aims to gather around a common platform researchers, entrepreneurs and industries from the sub-region or around the globe thereof they can:
− Disseminate their research results and innovations through oral and poster presentations;
− Share experiences through discussions;
− Undertake academic and industrial collaborations.
Among others, the topics that will be covered during the colloquium are:
− Numerical simulations of physics, biomechanics, bioengineering and systems engineering problems.
− Modeling of optoelectronic (organic and hybrid) semiconductor materials and compounds for solar cell applications.
− Electronic band structures calculation.
− Classical and quantum transport.
− Engineering of nanomaterials, nanostructures and nanodevices.
− Electronic, thermal and magneto-properties of nanostructures.
